Testimonials

My two children enjoy art lessons at Growing Paints. My elder child joined at 10 months and has been going every week for more than 2 years. Eric’s teaching style brought him out of his shyness and he was able to express himself though art. My younger child, who is now 2,  joined at 16 months. She enjoys mixing the colours and splashing paint around. I want my children to have plenty of art experiences and Growing Paints provides this experience for the children in a fun and experiential environment. However, most importantly, my children have fun and look forward to going for art class with Eric.

– Liane Shaw-Puna, Director, Shaws Preschools

Our 5 year old son has been coming to Growing Paints for over 2 years.  Eric is very loving and enthusiastic and the kids really enjoy the classes. As Eric says “there are no mistakes in art” and the children are encouraged to trust their own creativity. Its amazing what they can learn and do and you can see their obvious pride and satisfaction.  Most important, the atmosphere is a lot fun!

– Ann Bieber (Robbie’s Mom)

My two daughters have enjoyed attending Growing-Paints lessons during their growing-up years. One of them even temped as an assistant to Eric after her A-Levels. Uncle Eric is a passionate art teacher who combines painting with music in his lessons, and makes art and creativity come alive for his young students. It is rare to find an art class where children are taught to interpret what they see, visualise what they think or feel, and are allowed to express themselves freely with songs, paints and brushes. I think learning how to handle messy paints and brushes, and making something beautiful out of a difficult medium, is a fun way to encourage creativity, expression and self-confidence.

– Mr. David Lim

Uncle Eric’s art classes are like a hands-on coloured-filled theatre and a musical jamboree all packed together into one fun-packed experience for every child. Our child Daniel, being naturally shy, was slowly phased into the world of colour through Eric’s musical warm-ups. The transition from the warm-ups is always magical as Daniel always looks forward to putting on the apron and working it out on the easel. Even though our child was not able to express his artistic side on canvass, it didn’t really matter to us. It was his smile and the joy that he brings with him out of the studio after that special 45 minutes that were always so gratifying to us.

Eric, you are an excellent imaginative painter. You played the guitar and sang songs with the children to teach them about primary colours. Our children sang and danced along with the percussion. The music and art workshop you had conducted was age appropriate. You used an interesting song to introduce the art technique “dip dip dap dap”. The presentation of this art technique was marvelous as children were able to paint with confidence and motivate to use the tools provided.

The music and art workshop provided a platform for children to learn to express themselves with beats and tempo. The children developed an effective link between their perceptions of the world and their ability to communicate these perceptions to others. Music and art play a central role in this development, by giving form to experience and constructing an understanding of the world around them. Imagination is also integrated into the workshop as an aspect of the development of realistic thinking using the story of the “Giving Tree”.

Overall the workshop was fantastic. The children, teaching staff, parents and observers enjoyed your facilitation. We would definitely love the children to interact and have fun with you again.
